NY State Clean-Fueled Bus Program Funds Available

November 16, 2007

NYSERDA is seeking proposals for its Clean-Fueled Bus Program.  Eligible proposers may include towns, counties, municipalities, school districts, and State agencies, departments, and public authorities.   A clean-fueled bus is any motor vehicle with a seating capacity of 15 or more passengers used for the transportation of persons on public highways that is powered by CNG, propane, methanol, hydrogen, biodiesel or ethanol, or uses electricity, either stored or generated on-board, as a primary motive force.  Buses must be commercially available from one or more bus manufacturers and be assigned to regular or revenue service.  Incentive funds will be awarded for up to 100 percent of the incremental vehicle cost (i.e., the additional cost of a clean-fueled bus compared to the cost of a comparably sized petroleum-powered bus).  Approximately $3 million are available on a competitive basis for Round VIII of this Program.
