(LOS ALTOS, CA) -– The EPA has issued certifications for Baytech Corporation’s 2006 model year 6.0L Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Propane (LPG) vehicles. These vehicles add to Baytech’s product lineup that also includes EPA and CARB certified 8.lL CNG and Propane vehicles and engines.
Available 6.0L models are:
Bi-fuel CNG (CNG or gasoline) Express/Savana Van 1500/2500/3500, Silverado/Sierra C2500HD/3500 pick-ups and cab and chassis models, van cut-away models, Workhorse step vans, and Isuzu NPR/W3500 trucks. These vehicles must be ordered with the 6.0L (LQ4) engine equipped with the KL5 alternative fuel conversion-ready option (standard on Isuzu and WH models) and Federal FE9 emission option.
Dedicated Propane (LPG) and dedicated CNG Silverado/Sierra C1500HD/2500HD pick-ups. These vehicles must be ordered with the 6.0L (LQ4) engine equipped with the KL5 option and
50 state emission package (must order YF5 or NE1 emissions option). GVWR must be 8600 or 9200 lbs.
General Motors order cutoff dates for 2006 model year gasoline base vehicles are quickly approaching. The C1500HD/2500HD/3500 regular and extended cab models must be ordered from your GM dealership by March 10, 2006 (March 3 if any SEO options are desired). The crew cab model order cutoff date is April 13. The cutoff date for Savana/Express full size vans is
April 28 (May 12 for SEO options). These dates are subject to change; please check with your GM dealership.
The dedicated CNG and Propane vehicles should qualify for tax credits at the 50% of incremental cost level (with applicable limits), and additional tax credits may be available based on the low emission levels achieved by these vehicles. IRS tax credit rules for alternative fuel vehicles are pending. California CARB emission certification at the SULEV level is in process for the dedicated CNG and propane models.
